Save The Date
The flagship celebration of Nigerian heritage in America.
Each October 1st, October One brings together Nigerians, Nigerian‑Americans and friends of Nigeria for a day of culture, charity and solidarity — orchestral elegance on one end, the color and pageantry of festival tradition on the other.

What To Expect
Culture, charity, and solidarity — built for our own community.
In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick’s Day, and Columbus Day, October One is built for people of Nigerian heritage to gather, celebrate and give back — anchored on the celebration, recognition, and appreciation of Nigerian independence and democracy.
Programming details for this year’s celebration are being finalized in partnership with the Embassy and our sponsors — guests and partners will be the first to know.
A Day Set Aside, Like Others Before It
On The Day
Two moods, one celebration.
From the concert hall hush of a live orchestra to the drums and color of masquerade in motion — the program is built to hold both.
Live Orchestra
A full Nigerian orchestra opens the evening with the gravity the occasion deserves — strings, brass and a conductor in full ceremony.
Pageantry & Procession
Color, rhythm and tradition take the floor — a joyful nod to the festival regalia carried across Nigeria’s regions.
Community & The Table
Jollof, plantain and good company — the through‑line of every October One gathering, from the first year onward.
Standing Together
Built On Partnership
Every celebration starts with a relationship.
The Embassy, our sponsors, and our community all have a seat at this table. The event exists because the partnership does — see how you can be part of both.
